Gtech was named Business of the Year at the recent Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards.
However, as well as seeing its work, and achievements with the AirRam cordless vacuum, over the past 12 months recognised with the night’s main award, the company also received the Award for Excellence in Innovation.
The event, which was held on 26 September, brought together over 400 delegates from across the two counties to the Chateau Impney Hotel in Droitwich.
Hosted by BBC Hereford and Worcester’s Howard Bentham, the evening celebrated local businesses with numerous awards, from Commitment to People Development to Most Promising New Business, before culminating in Gtech founder and CEO, Nick Grey, stepping up to the stage to pick up the two awards.
Reacting to the double-award victory, Nick Grey said: “The past 12 months have been fantastic for Gtech, with the launch of the AirRam cordless vacuum cleaner. To go up and collect these awards really tops it all off.
“It’s absolutely brilliant to see all the hard work everyone’s put in and the innovative design of our products acknowledged by two prestigious awards. The competition was of a high-calibre too, which made the win all the more satisfying.
“Although we’re very proud of what we’ve achieved so far, we want to build on this success with more fantastic innovations in the future. With the success of our lightweight vacuum cleaner, the AirRam, we’ve been able to bring in more engineers and design teams, and they’re already hard at work, designing the next generation of Gtech products.”
Chief executive of Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Mike Ashton, stated: “This year the standard of entries for the awards was very high and any of our category winners could easily have been Business of the Year.
“However, Gtech stood out and impressed the judges as they had a clear and documented vision and strategy for sustainable growth that was particularly outstanding. Well done!”
Gtech’s AirRam Cordless Vacuum Cleaner Success
The past year has been one of considerable success for Gtech.
Following its launch, the AirRam, a cordless upright vacuum cleaner, has received a 10/10 rating from the Daily Mail, and the Good Housekeeping Institute 2013 seal of approval.
As a result of the launch, the company has also seen its profitability increase by around 350%, and is projected to see its turnover surpass £20 million by the end of the current financial year (2013).
However, as well as seeing success through its cordless vacuum cleaners, Gtech’s ST05 Li-Ion Cordless Grass Trimmer has also received plaudits.
It was awarded Best Buy status by British consumer research watchdog, Which? earlier in the year.
