Gtech is delighted to announce that we are one of the lead sponsors of the Worcester Wolves basketball team for the 2015/16 season. To mark the start of this special sponsorship agreement, Nick Grey, founder and CEO of Gtech, presented a cheque for £20,000 to Mick Donovan, Managing Director of Worcester Wolves.
Located in Spetchley, just outside Worcester, Gtech has experienced strong growth in recent years due in part to the success of the AirRam cordless vacuum cleaner. Earlier this year, Gtech were presented with a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise in addition to receiving The Sunday Times Profit Track ‘Ones to Recognise’ award.
Gtech’s Nick Grey is an avid basketball fan and often takes his family along to watch the Worcester Wolves when they are playing at the Worcester Arena. Nick comments “To anyone local who enjoys sport but hasn’t been to the Worcester Arena yet I would highly recommend it, the atmosphere is fantastic.” Due to the success that Gtech has enjoyed of late, Nick felt strongly that he wanted to support a local sports team that brings the community together and helps put Worcester on the map. Nick continues “We are proud to support the Worcester Wolves and it’s great to see one of the smaller city British Basketball league (BBL) teams competing with the big city BBL franchises nationally.”
Since moving to the University of Worcester Arena in 2013, the Worcester Wolves have experienced a large increase in support at home games and had remarkable success on court. They finished in 3rd place last season in the BBL and have built up a reputation as a team to watch out for.
There was a complete overhaul to the line-up during the summer which saw players from Slovakia, Spain and the United States join talented young British players on the team. Managing Director of Worcester Wolves, Mick Donovan, is enthusiastic for what lies ahead. “We are excited about the new group of players that we have assembled and the support from a prestigious company like Gtech clearly shows that we are going places.” He continues “The support from Gtech will enable us to continue to make significant progress in key areas.”
