At Gtech, we design technology to make everyday life easier. This page offers a closer look at the thinking behind the AirRAM 3. It explains how its features are designed, how we test them, and the kind of performance you can expect in real-world use.
What is Gtech’s Dual Edge Cleaning Technology, and how does it work?
Gtech’s Dual Edge Cleaning Technology, featured in both the AirRAM 3 and AirRAM 3 Plus, is designed to help tackle the edges and corners that many vacuums struggle to reach. Positioned at the front underside of the vacuum head are two small rotating side brushes. As the vacuum moves, these brushes sweep dust and debris from along skirting boards and corners into the main suction path. This makes it easier to clean dusty corners and edges and helps reduce the likelihood of missed patches.
How does the Auto Clean Filter reduce maintenance and help preserve performance?
The AirRAM 3 features an Auto Clean Filter system designed to reduce the need for manual cleaning. The vacuum automatically activates a mechanical vibration cycle when switched off. This helps shake off dust and debris from the filter. For shorter cleaning sessions, the self-cleaning cycle can be manually activated by holding the power button for three seconds.
Internal testing shows that this system helps the AirRAM 3 maintain airflow and suction for longer periods compared to using the product without the Auto Clean feature.

These results illustrate how the Auto Clean Filter system helps preserve performance under high dust conditions. It reduces the need for regular manual filter maintenance.
What is AirLOC Technology, and how does it support pickup performance?
AirLOC is Gtech’s patented pickup system that allows the AirRAM 3 to capture a wide range of debris types in fewer passes. When pushing the vacuum forward, the internal AirLOC flap opens to allow larger debris like cereal or pet hair into the suction path. On the backward stroke, the flap closes to form a seal, helping draw in finer dust and particles more effectively. This self-adjusting design means the AirRAM 3 is built to handle both everyday mess and trickier debris efficiently in a single clean.
How long does the AirRAM 3 run for, and is it suitable for an average UK home?
The AirRAM 3 has been engineered to deliver consistent cleaning performance across typical UK home environments. This includes carpet, hard flooring and mixed surfaces. To verify this, we conducted lab-controlled runtime testing on a moving floor rig across three surface types. Each test used a fully charged battery and ran the vacuum to full discharge without interruption. Three separate units were tested to ensure consistency.
Results showed that the AirRAM 3 delivers over 30 minutes of continuous cleaning on all surfaces. The average runtime was 31 minutes and 28 seconds. Crucially, the motor and suction performance remained stable throughout each cycle. No noticeable power fade was observed during testing prior to automatic shut-off. This reflects real-world usage. In most cases, cleaning time is more often limited by battery capacity than a loss of performance.

These results support the AirRAM 3’s suitability for a full clean of the average UK home. That is typically around 94m².
